Redmi power 9 Review, First look
Redmi power 9 review, First look!
Xiaomi brand has strategically given us redmi mobile series, as budget phones it has given us much to look forward to.
But recently it has met with its match from brands like Samsung, Real, Nokia.
Realme has countered redmi in every possible budget phone available in the market.
To have an edge over other brands Redmi has released over 5 phones under Redmi 5 series.
The recent release has been Redmi power 9 yet another power packed phone with good features, starting price with Rs 10,999.
The features are a hybrid of redmi note 9 and redmi 9 prime, the price range is between both the phones.
This power packed phone come with 48MP and 6000mah battery.
Let's discuss the user experience and test how this phone performs.
Design and display
It comes with an impeccable design with fresh outlook, that matches with aesthetics of previous phones, camera in rectangular box, textured back and display with bezel-less property.
With a big battery it feels a bit big in our hands, 198gm in weight, it feels sturdy and the cover plastic is good in quality.
Ports and buttons, on the left side, contain a tray where you can insert a sim card and memory card.
On the right side there is a volume button, and power button with one more feature added with a fingerprint scanner which makes it convenient compared to a rear mounted scanner.
It has Type-C usb port and speaker grills and microphone.
There's also a stereo speaker which is rare for phones in this range.
It has a stereo speaker in the bottom and a second speaker on the top like most of the smartphones, with a secondary microphone, and 3.5mm audio jack.
It comes with gorilla glass 3, 6.53 inch screen, brightness with 400 nits in maximum, it works well indoors and outdoors with brightness.
There could have been a little improvement in viewing angles.
Overall, the display is good enough for daily use.
Performance wise
Performance is what we look for in premium branded phones, but as a budget phone, we hope to squeeze as much value out of it as possible.
And it fits the bill, Qualcomm Snapdragon makes the task little easier for the phone, for texting, social media, and youtube.
It works well within means without any noticeable lag.
But if you're using it for playing games, it works fine with basic games, it struggles with triple A title games.
And it comes with MIUI 12, which is parallel to android 10 OS, which is an older version of recent android 11 release, it is peculiar that they haven't released it with the latest version.
Audio quality is pretty good, even when the volume is full, it's not that loud but gives clarity without distortions.
Overall performance is okay but misses out a lot of key usage in day to day life.
Camera
If you're buying a phone for camera performance, just go for it, as it provides a 48MP primary rear camera, 8MP wide camera, 2MP macro, 2MP sensor for depth.
And 8MP front camera for selfies.
But things in the real world are not the same, while taking shots in night mode with low light did an average job.
We did check on daylight shots which was just satisfactory at best.
Could do a decent job for social media uploads.
Details are lacking in the shots, and the rear camera is good enough for occasional photography.
And the front camera is pretty decent with good sharpness.
With all the what if's, the camera is not a strong feature of the product, but it does the job anyhow.
Battery
One thing which could make you buy this phone is, it's battery, it does what it says on the package, we tested the mobile with data to day workload using camera, emails, browsing, youtube, and some lightweight gaming, it lasted one and a half days. For such extensive work it did its job just fine.
It could have lasted longer, with less workload.
Charging comes without issues, with fast charging options of 22.5 W, it can be charged under 2 hours.
Conclusion
If you're going for a budget phone, it's a very attractive option out there in the market.
With decent performance and good battery life you can get a lot of value packed in a single phone.
It starts with 4gb ram 64gb internal storage within that price range.
So do go buy as soon as possible, the starting price ranges from 10,999, not that good but nothing to laugh at, in this price range, but if you can sacrifice on cameras end, this is a good deal.
Nice
